Revolutionary new generation Kiss Me Heroine Long & Curl Mascara Advanced Film review
I’ve always used Japanese mascaras for as long as I can remember. Many brands launch advanced and innovative mascaras every year, whether it be waterproof, smudge proof, long lasting curls, or trendy colours. I finally got a chance to try out Kiss Me Heroine’s long & curl advanced film mascara, which came top in 2021 in a popular Japanese cosmetic ranking, @cosme. Let’s have a look at what the hype is all about.
What is Kiss Me Heroine Long and Curl Mascara Advanced Film like?
This mascara is a fibre type mascara, aiming at lengthening the lashes while keeping its curl and shape throughout the day. It is also smudge proof and waterproof, that won’t come off even if you rub your eyes or cry, keeping those panda eyes at bay.
The brush is the same width throughout and is slightly curved. It’s not overly big, which makes it easier to apply without accidentally poking your eyes or getting mascara on your eyelids.
Ingredients
Isododecane, Trimethylsiloxysiloxysilicate, Talc, Distaldimonium hectorite, (palmitic/ethylhexanoic acid) dextrin, Seresin, PEG-20 sorbitan isostearate, Hydrogenated polyisobutene, Microcrystalline wax, Beeswax, Propylene carbonate, Nylon-66, Argania spinosa kernel oil, Canina rosea fruit oil, Camellia japonica seed oil, Royal jelly extract, Al distearate, Glyceryl isostearate, Polymethyl silsesquioxane, (Diethylaminoethyl methacrylate/ HEMA/perfluorohexylethyl methacrylate) crosspolymer, Squalane, Silica, Iron oxide, Titanium dioxide.
Putting Heroine Mascara to the test
On the package it recommends that you curl your lashes before applying. If you have naturally curly lashes, you might be fine skipping this step but for me it caused a little bit of panda eyes so now I always curl my lashes beforehand.
Compared to other fibre type mascaras, the brush doesn’t seem to have so much when you pull it out from the barrel, but once you apply the mascara, you see a difference. This mascara naturally boosts the lashes with fibre and pushes them up - not the in-your-face type of boosting, but has an elegant, subtle but definitely ‘more’ type of effect.
I’ve tried it when I went out for the day, and there were no smudges, no dark circles under my eyes and the lashes stayed up. I then tested the mascara by going to hot yoga with it on. This is something I never do after getting mascara tears around my face once. Surprisingly, Heroine Long and Curl mascara kept its promise, and I walked out of the studio just like I walked in, after sweating bucket loads in a 40 degrees studio. I was very impressed!
But if it’s sweat and waterproof, how do you take it off? They recommend you first apply warm water to soften the film created by the mascara, then use a facial wash to rinse it off. I’ve tested one eye with makeup remover and the other with warm water + facial wash, they both came out fresh and clean, so either way works, but it’s convenient that it’s not a must to use a makeup remover!
Verdict
Pros:
- Ideal length and brush size
- Enough to make your lashes thicker but not too extravagant
- Keeps your lashes up all day without flaking or leaving the under eyes black
- Truly sweat and water resistant
- Comes off with warm water and face wash
Cons:
- need to dissolve the mascara ‘film’ with warm water when removing, but much easier than using eye makeup remover or a cleanser – you have to wash your face anyway so it’s just a minimal additional step.
Waterproof mascaras often need to be removed with eye makeup remover before cleansing, which made me skip mascara often. But with Kiss Me Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara, I don’t have to worry about panda eyes yet I can wash it off with just warm water and my usual face wash, making it easier to reach for it daily!
I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a long lasting mascara you won’t have to worry about until it’s time to take it off. Zak Zakka also has other Kiss Me Heroine Make Mascaras so don’t forget to check them out too!
