RENEWAL – Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+/PA ++++(70g)
Hi, it’s Chie from Zak Zakka. Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence, which has had a great review on social media in Japan, launched an updated version this year. This viral sunscreen is known for its watery light texture and refreshing yet non sticky finish on the skin.
I’ve taken it on holiday to sunny and hot Greece to see how good it is. What has changed, and how did it fare against the strong sunshine and water? Read on if you’re interested!
What has changed?
First, the lid has improved. It’s changed from a screw cap to a flip top making it more convenient to apply sunscreen. It’s really handy that you don’t have to worry about holding onto the lid or putting it somewhere while you put sunscreen on when you’re out and about. It just flips up and you can do with one finger. It has also increased in size, a generous 40% increase, from 50g to 70g, so you don’t have to worry about running out too soon. The formula has largely stayed the same, containing its signature Micro Defence formula (I will explain about this later).
What’s in it?
Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence contains Micro Defence formula that uses a capsule packed with UV protection agent to ensure every area of the skin to be evenly covered by forming a fine veil on the skin when applied to fully protect the skin from the UV rays. It prevents uneven coating to the microscopic level, creating a thin UV blocking film.
A few ingredients that play a major role in this sunscreen are octinoxate, a UV filter, glycerin and hyaluronic acid that makes up for any potential dryness caused by alcohol that is also contained in this product. Other ingredients good for the skin are also contained, such as Vitamin E, an antioxidant, arginine, an amino acid that boosts collagen synthesis, and royal jelly extract that smooths the skin. As Biore, the manufacturer boasts, it’s better for the skin to wear this sunscreen than wearing nothing at all.

The Feel
Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence claims that it is so moisturizing and light, no matter how much you reapply. And it really is! Nothing like traditional sunscreen, UV Aqua Rich Water Essence Sunscreen is like a light and silky gel-serum that sinks into the skin right away. Absolutely no white tint or gooeyness, you can apply and reapply without even looking at the mirror, making it a great sunscreen to take it on the go. It feels so light and moisturizing, like you’re applying a skincare product, not sunscreen. There is no nasty smell that reminds you of sunscreen, and it sits well under makeup without flaking or leaving a white residue.
The product is tested effective for 80 mins, so it’s vital you reapply throughout the day. Not having to look at the mirror to put it on was very handy too. My skin felt soft and supple even after applying sunscreen a few times during the day. It’s also great that you can wash it off with soap, making life easier especially when you’re travelling.
The Verdict:
I must say I was extremely impressed with UV Aqua Rich Water Essence. It’s so handy on the go. No nasty smell and no tackiness. So moisturizing.
I tan very easily without turning red or burnt, but my face and decorte area was the least tanned as I reapplied during the day, and I am positive that this was thanks to Biore UV Aqua Rich Water Essence.
My daughter and husband were also impressed with how comfortable it was to apply, and this was by far one of the best sunscreens I have ever used. It doesn’t have a tone-up feature so if that’s what you’re looking for in your sunscreen, you might want to try Skin Aqua Tone Up Essence. But if you want a sunscreen that is moisturizing, light, but highly effective, look no further – Biore UV Aqua Rich Water Essence is your best shot!
