Easy Fit Long Flared Skirt with Webbing Belt
Hi, I’m Chie from Zak Zakka. Perhaps some of you have read my blog I wrote about the long sleeve dress, and hopefully got you interested in trying out Japanese clothing in UK or maybe just interested in Japanese fashion you can buy in UK.
Today I would like to share with you another Japanese style clothing you can buy in UK. It’s a long flared skirt with a webbing belt. In the photo, I am wearing grey, which is a lovely shade, not too dark and not too light, making it very versatile.
Quality fabric
What I love about this skirt is that it is made using loads of quality fabric. It has a slight sheen to it, which I think adds to how it looks more expensive than it actually is. It’s unlined but the fabric is quite thick and heavy you don’t have to worry about having to wear something underneath. Also, the skirt flows really nicely when you walk. I don’t think I’ve done so many twirls wearing a skirt since I was a little girl!
A-line silhouette
The skirt has a lovely A line silhouette with an elastic waistband, and a webbing belt that is attached to the skirt so you can adjust the fit as you like. I am a size 8, but my size 10 daughter could easily wear it and still have to tighten the webbing belt. It may seem a bit tight when you first wear it, but you just have to expand the elastic fully, then it will be loose enough to step into it. Just pull on the belt afterwards so the belt is secure inside the waistband and not hanging about.
Long but not too long
The length hits just above my ankles (I’m 5’3, 161cm), so I can wear it with flats without dragging the hems (which happens quite often with maxi length skirts sold in UK) I’ve been wearing the skirt with flat sandals, heeled sandals, and trainers, and they all go so well with it!
Versatile and not too casual
I have two kids and a dog, and work from home, so I like my clothes to be fashionable but still comfortable to wear, not too flimsy, versatile so I can wear it with various items that I already have, and something I can dress up or down. This skirt is just what I needed for my wardrobe, as I can wear it while I am at home, but still go out to a café or a restaurant during the day, I love how it swishes around me when I move about in the house, the fabric isn’t coarse, and it just makes me feel that much happier than wearing my old boring pair of jeans!
The only trouble I have is getting used to how much fabric there is, as I tend to close the car door with my skirt still hanging out! I suppose I just need to be more ‘ladylike’ to wear an A-line skirt on an ordinary day….
I hope I was able to convey how lovely this skirt is to you, the photos just don’t do justice, to be honest, I don’t think the photos on the official website does it justice either. If I got you interested, I guess you just have to try it out yourself!
